Returns & Refund Policy
Our goal is that every customer is fully satisfied with their purchase. Due to New York State regulations governing the sale of alcoholic beverages, returns and refunds are subject to specific legal limitations outlined below.
New York State Alcohol Return Law
Under regulations established by the New York State Liquor Authority, retail licensees are not permitted to accept returns of alcoholic beverages purchased in error or based on customer preference.
Accordingly:
• We cannot accept returns because a product was not to your taste
• We cannot accept returns of opened or unopened alcohol purchased mistakenly
• Exchanges or refunds for alcoholic beverages are permitted only for defective merchandise
Defective or Spoiled Wine
If you believe a wine is flawed due to cork taint, oxidation, or other spoilage, we will gladly evaluate the bottle.
To qualify:
• Notification must occur within 15 days of purchase or delivery
• The bottle must contain the remaining contents
• The original cork or closure must be provided
• Empty bottles cannot be accepted
Once verified as defective, Scarsdale Wine & Spirits may issue:
• Replacement bottle, or
• Store credit equal to the purchase price
Refunds will be issued only where permitted by law.
Damaged Orders (Delivery or Shipment)
Please inspect all orders immediately upon receipt.
If your order arrives damaged:
• Notify us within 2 business days of delivery
• Retain all packaging materials
• Broken bottles must include sealed necks or identifiable remains for claim processing
Upon confirmation, we will arrange pickup or documentation and provide a replacement or store credit.
Failure to report damage within the required timeframe may prevent replacement eligibility.
Returned or Refused Deliveries
Orders that cannot be completed due to customer action may be treated as returned orders, including:
• Delivery refusal
• No adult available for signature
• Incorrect delivery information
• Failure to coordinate delivery access
Returned orders may be subject to:
• 20% restocking fee
• Additional delivery charges
• Rescheduling delays
Alcoholic beverages must remain unopened and in resalable condition to qualify for any credit consideration.
Store Credit Policy
Where returns are legally permitted:
• Credits are issued as store credit only unless otherwise required by law
• Store credit is valid for one (1) year from issuance
• Proof of purchase is required
Returns without proof of purchase may be credited at the lowest recorded selling price within the preceding six months.
Non-Returnable Items
The following items are not eligible for return:
• Products purchased in error
• Items opened or partially consumed (unless defective)
• Special orders or allocated products
• Items damaged after delivery acceptance
• Products declined based on personal taste preference
